Euterpe oleracea fruit extract is an extract from the fruit of the acai palm.
Although these fruits have gained international attention as a ‘miracle fruit’, their reality is much less impressive. While they are a very good source of various antioxidant compounds, they are no different to, say, grapes, bilberries, black cherries, or strawberries.
They are very dark in color because they contain high amounts of plant pigments called anthocyanins. The extract from acai fruit is used in skincare products for its rich antioxidant properties. This is due to the high content of anthocyanins and other phenolic compounds.
