Overview

Escin, or Aescin, is a mixture of plant-based compounds from the class of terpenoids, isolated from the seeds of the horse chestnut tree – Aesculus hippocastanum.

It has beneficial effects on inflamed skin presenting with swelling, redness, bruises, and broken veins. It has strong and well-researched anti-inflammatory properties and is beneficial for veins.

Aescin, in fact, is registered as a drug that can be taken orally to treat haematomas, varicose veins, and help with the healing process after injuries and surgeries.
