Overview

Disodium stearoyl glutamate is an anionic surfactant, which means it is an excellent cleansing ingredient.

Surfactants function by having an oil-loving section that surrounds dirt and oil particles on the skin and a water-loving section that allows the dirt and oils to be rinsed away with water. Being anionic, or negatively charged, simply indicates that this ingredient is very powerful, and it often needs to be accompanied by milder surfactants to keep it gentle enough for use on the skin.
