Overview
Disodium cocoamphodiacetate is an extremely mild amphoteric surfactant.
This ingredient can act as a cleansing agent or in support of more powerful cleansing ingredients, such as anionic surfactants, in order to make them gentler on the skin.
In addition, disodium cocoamphodiacetate serves to control foaming in skin cleansing products. It can produce flash foam, which is the foam that shows up immediately during lather, and it can produce longer lasting foam that often signifies a more thorough clean.
Finally, disodium cocoamphodiacetate can also control viscosity, in that it can thicken cleansing products.
