Overview

Daucus carota sativa root extract is an extract made from the root of carrots, the same ones that we often eat as vegetables.

As is commonly known, carrots are a rich source of the orange-colored beta-carotene, also known as pro-vitamin A. In the human body, beta-carotene is processed into the actual active form of vitamin A, also called retinol, which is very important for the health of the eyes, skin, and mucosa.

In skincare, this brightly colored extract is used as an antioxidant and a source of vitamin A for the skin. It is often added to skincare products that are aimed at providing a better suntan.

Be careful if you are allergic to celery: celery and carrot are related (they belong to the same family, Apiaceae) and they contain the same allergenic compounds.
