Overview

Cymbopogon martini oil is an essential oil distilled from a fragrant species of grass from India known as palmarosa. The essential oil is used in skincare as a rose-scented fragrance.

The palmarosa essential oil got its name from its scent, which is very similar to rose. This is due to the presence of geraniol and nerol, two rose-scented volatile compounds. Palmarosa grass is often cultivated and harvested several times a year. The leaves and flowers are dried and steam-distilled to obtain the essential oil, which is then used in perfumes and skincare products, as well as as a source of pure geraniol.
