Crithmum maritimum extract is extracted from sea fennel, or the samphire plant, a fennel-related, edible, aromatic plant that grows on the European seashores.
It is used in skincare products as a fragrance and antioxidant ingredient. It contains essential oil with a spicy, herbaceous scent. The main pleasant-smelling compounds of the essential oil are γ-terpinene, sabinene, and thymol methyl ether.
Other than that, Crithmum maritimum extract contains flavonoids and organic acids - which have antioxidant properties.
