Overview

Copaifera officinalis resin is an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and wound healing hardened sap obtained from Copaifera officinalis, also called copaiba resin or balsam copaiba.

It has a long history of use as a traditional remedy for wounds, scars, ulcers, and other skin conditions, mainly in Brazil where the plant grows in the wild.

In skincare products, copaiba resin is utilized in preparations for problematic and inflammation-prone skin. The fragrant resin contains essential oil and various terpenes which, similarly to myrrh or balsamum peruvianum, help with skin healing and reduce the signs of inflammation.

It may cause some skin sensitivity in people allergic to fragrances, so be sure to test it first.
