Commiphora mukul resin extract is an extract obtained from the resin that forms on injured Commiphora wightii (or Commiphora mukul) tree branches. This resin is very fragrant and known under many names: bdellium, guggul, Mukul myrrh. The tree is most commonly found in Northern India and the resin has been used for centuries as an incense and in perfumes and balms.
The resin extract has been used in Ayurveda to treat a variety of disorders. It contains a wide range of chemical compounds, some of which are very rare.
In skincare, guggul extract can help with inflamed and injured skin, as well as wound healing. It has a sweet, honey-like scent.
