Collagen is a protein that builds human tissues, mainly in the skin and joints. It is a huge molecule that isn't absorbed by the skin but that forms a layer on the skin’s surface.
It works as a moisturizing humectant, binding water to the skin’s surface and helping it to retain moisture. Collagen is usually obtained for skincare purposes from farm animals such as cows and pigs, or from fish and other marine animals.
