Coenzyme A

Overview

Coenzyme A is a type of coenzyme, or helper molecule, that assists in the creation and metabolism of fatty acids. This particular coenzyme is critical to many foundational body functions, including the Krebs Cycle, where energy that fuels the body’s cells is released through the oxidation of acetyl-coenzyme A.

In skincare, coenzyme A is utilized for its ability to metabolize lipids, or fat molecules. Through application of coenzyme A to the skin, through a lotion or serum, the appearance of cellulite can be diminished, as coenzyme A helps break down the fat molecules found in the surface layers of the skin.
