Coco-caprylate/caprate is a medium to fast spreading emollient ester. It is a blend of caprylates and caprates, which means it contains a blend of eight-carbon and ten-carbon chains, respectively. This translates to a richer, slightly heavier feel on the skin than the similar ingredient known as coco-caprylate, which is contains only chains of eight carbons.
As a result, it serves as a natural alternative to volatile silicones.
