Overview
Coco-caprylate is a naturally derived emollient ester. This ingredient is lightweight and fast spreading, making it commonly used as a natural alternative to volatile silicones.
It features a very low viscosity, particularly compared to a very similar ingredient known as coco-caprylate/caprate. Coco-caprylate contains a shorter, eight-carbon chain, as opposed to the blend of eight- and ten-carbon chains in coco-caprylate/caprate. This shorter chain length allows the individual molecules to slide more easily past one another, which results in a lighter, more spreadable feeling on the skin.
