Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Extract

Overview

Citrus reticulata peel extract is a fragrant extract obtained from the rind or peel of tangerines (Citrus tangerina).

The extract is often produced from the leftover rinds after juicing. Tangerines are known for their easy-to-peel, loose rind, which makes them a favorite winter fruit.

The tangerine peel, like all other citrus peels, contains a large amount of essential oil that can be pressed or distilled. It is mostly made up of limonene, a citrusy-scented volatile phytochemical.

People sensitive towards citrus fruits should be careful with this ingredient, as it may cause a sun-induced skin rash.
