Citrus grandis peel extract is an extract obtained from the peels of pomelo (Citrus grandis), sometimes mislabeled as grapefruit (the taxonomy and Latin names of citrus fruits are complicated and sometimes change when new discoveries are made).
The peel of all citrus fruits contains mainly essential oil, which (in the case of pomelo) contains mainly limonene, a compound responsible for the citrus smell. In pomelo, limonene may represent up to 95% of the essential oil.
Pomelo peel also contains various organic acids and flavonoids, which have antioxidant activities. This extract is mainly used as a fragrance due to the limonene content, but also for its antioxidant properties.
Some people might be sensitive to citrus extracts, especially when use is combined with sun exposure.
