Citrus aurantium dulcis flower oil is a fragrant essential oil obtained from the flowers of the sweet orange. It is different from bitter orange flower oil, also known as neroli oil, and form orange blossom essential oil, which is obtained by enfleurage, not steam distillation.
The orange flower essential oil contains fragrant linalool, 2-phenylethanol, and limonene. The exact composition varies from tree to tree and is also dependent on the weather, climate, and extraction procedure. It is used as a fragrance in cosmetic products and very often used in perfumes.
People sensitive to citrus fruits should be careful with this ingredient, as it may cause a sun-induced skin rash.
