Overview

Chrysanthemum parthenium extract is an extract obtained from the feverfew plant, or Tanacetum parthenium. In skincare it is used as an anti-inflammatory ingredient, having alleged beneficial effects on skin inflammation and psoriasis.

Feverfew has a long history of medicinal use, dating all the way back to Ancient Greece. The leaves have been used against fevers (hence the name) and headaches.

It has been in the focus of researchers for quite some time, with many promising results. The plant contains a phytochemical called parthenolide, which is under clinical research for the treatment and prevention of migraines. The whole plant has a nice, cooling scent due to the content of camphor in the feverfew essential oil.
