Overview
Cetearyl isononanoate is an emollient ester, which means it is an oil that imparts softening sensations when applied to the skin. Emollient oils are often mistaken to be moisturizing, but in order to moisturize, the ingredient in question must bring water to the skin – not oil.
However, this does not mean that emollient oils are not useful, as they do make the skin feel soft and smooth. Cetearyl isononanoate is a medium-weight emollient with moderate spreadability.
