Overview

Ceteareth-12 is an emulsifying ingredient based on ethoxylated technology. Ethoxylates are a special type of chemistry that allows for powerful emulsification and improved stability in emulsions, and they are denoted by the β€œeth” in the name.

Specifically, ceteareth-12 serves as an excellent primary or secondary emulsifier in oil-in-water emulsions, which are generally lightweight and cooling against the skin. This waxy solid is often paired with other ethoxylates and with fatty alcohols, such as cetearyl alcohol, in order to produce oil-in-water emulsions.

Although ceteareth-12 feels waxy as a pure compound, it has the ability to create a smooth and soft skincare product.
