Overview

Carrageenan is a gum-like thickener derived from Chondrus Crispus (a seaweed).

It is tolerant of ingredients like salt, helps to form a soft film on the skin, and aids in stabilizing product forms. Gums don’t always have the most elegant look or feel on the skin and so usually only make up a small part of a complete product.
