Overview
Cananga odorata flower extract is a fragrant extract obtained from ylang-ylang flowers.
It is a popular ingredient in the skincare and perfume industry because of its sweet and floral scent. The flowers are yellow, very fragrant, and have thin, curled petals.
The compounds that give the ylang-ylang flowers their characteristic scent are linalool, benzyl acetate, methyl benzoate, and geraniol. But there are dozens, if not hundreds, of different compounds in the true ylang-ylang essential oil.
As is usually the case with all essential oils and fragrances, they may cause an allergic skin reaction in more sensitive individuals. If you have ever had a skin rash from perfumed products, always test these types of ingredients on a small patch of skin before use.
