Overview

The name ‘Calendula officinalis flower oil’ can refer to one of two things – pure essential oil obtained from the flowers of the pot marigold (Calendula officinalis) or a marigold flower oil infusion (this ingredient is more likely, as the flowers only contain 0,3% of the essential oil).

The infusion is created by steeping dried marigold flowers in a clean base oil for some time.

The resulting oil is bright orange in color and contains all the fat-soluble active ingredients of the marigold flowers. It has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects on the skin.
