Calcium Sodium Borosilicate

Overview

Calcium Sodium Borosilicate is a borosilicate glass in a form of a finely milled white powder with no particular scent. It is produced in a lab by mixing oxides of boron, calcium and sodium with silica. The "glass" part might sound disturbing, however the CIR reviewed the ingredient and concluded that it is safe to use.

In skincare, calcium sodium borosilicate acts as a bulking agent that helps achieve desired volume and consistency of a product. It is also popular in makeup/color cosmetics because it can help act as a filler with other pigments (colors) and diffuse light which provides some blurring effects on the skin, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles.
