Calcium aluminum borosilicate is a powdered bulking agent. This ingredient is primarily utilized in powdered skin products to increase the volume and thicken the products.
Calcium aluminum borosilicate is actually considered a type of glass and is very chemically inactive. Although it is glass, it is normally manufactured in a flake or fine powder, so it does not appear as one would imagine normal “glass.” In fact, borosilicates are the same class of glass as Pyrex, but they appear completely different in cosmetics.
