Brassica oleracea italica extract is an extract obtained from broccoli.
Broccoli, similar to other cabbage-related vegetables, contains sulfur in the form of glucosinolates. These are responsible for the typical smell and taste of brassica vegetables. The broccoli extract also contains various vitamins, flavonoids, and phenolic acids - which have antioxidant properties.
There is no information about the effects of broccoli extract on the skin. In Italian traditional medicine, broccoli juice was used for the prevention of skin diseases.
It is possible that the compounds from the extract have antioxidant properties, and sulfur compounds usually have antimicrobial activity, but nothing can be said for certain. One thing we know for sure is that broccoli extract has a strong, pungent aroma that may be unpleasant to some.
