Boron Nitride

Boron nitride is an off-white lustrous powder that has several functions. One of its main uses is its ability to opacify skincare products. Depending on particle size, it can provide a range of appearances, ranging from translucent to completely opaque.

In addition, boron nitride is an excellent absorber, in that it is capable of high oil absorption. This plays a role in the way it modifies slip in skincare products. It provides a smooth feel on the skin, with high spreadability.

Finally, boron nitride is also used as a bulking agent, particularly in oil-based skincare products or in the oil phase of emulsions, to thicken and stabilize the formula.
