Atelocollagen is a collagen molecule that has been chemically modified to be less foreign to our immune system. The modification is done by special enzymes that chop off small fragments from each end of the collagen strand (these ends are called telopeptides).
Atelocollagen was first created to be used in super-specialized gene therapy, which is why it had to be as non-invasive as possible.
In skincare, however, it has precisely the same properties as regular collagen – it acts as a fantastic humectant that attracts moisture and traps it on the skin’s surface.
