Overview

Astrocaryum murumuru seed butter is a solid, butter-like fatty oil extracted from the seeds of the Murumuru palm, which is native to Amazonia.

This butter consists mainly of saturated fatty acids (lauric and myristic acid) as well as smaller amounts of monounsaturated oleic acid. The content of saturated fatty acids results in an oil that is solid at room temperature but that melts at body temperature, which makes it a great ingredient for creams and ointments.

The Murumuru butter is used in skincare products as an occlusive moisturizer for the prevention of water loss, is very emollient and, due to its consistency, also acts as a stabilizing ingredient.
